Vardis supports Keen Transport Inc.& Platinum Equity in moving Chris Easter to CEO from COO
Easter will succeed Bill Keen, who has held the company's top position since 1995. According to a news release, Keen will remain an employee of the company and will help guide its future strategy.
Easter's previous promotion was effective Nov. 12, 2012, and the COO role was created for him at that time. Prior to that, Keen also served as the company's President.
"Chris is an outstanding leader who has rapidly integrated himself into the organization and significantly contributed to our recent successes and growth within the specialized logistics marketplace. He possesses the core values of the Keen organization and is a natural fit to take our company forward," Bill Keen said in a news release. "I congratulate him on this promotion and am excited about the future for Keen in both our transportation and logistics divisions."
"Keen is just now completing its 45th year in business and is well poised for continued success and growth," Easter said. "Keen's well deserved reputation for superior service and integrity in the marketplace has been earned by the outstanding team of employees I work with today. I am grateful to Bill Keen for the opportunity to lead Keen. On behalf of all the employees of Keen, I want to thank Bill for his 45 years of leadership and contribution to the company's success."
Easter is a veteran of the logistics industry, having served in executive roles with companies including Wal-Mart, Schneider Logistics and RoadLink. He also earned a bachelor's degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as a transportation officer in the United States Army, according to the company.
In late 2011, Los Angeles-based Platinum Equity acquired Keen Transport and its subsidiaries for an undisclosed price. The Middlesex Township-based company employed more than 800 people in 2009 at 17 locations around the country.
